I think you might win her over faster by not startling her every time she aproaches you for food. Try this: sit down and offer her food. Allow her to approach and retreat as much as she wants. When she feels comfortable next to you try slowly reaching for her chest not her back as this is threatening. When she will let you touch her YOU retreat before she gets uncomfortable. This way she learns that she doesn't need to run away and that she has to come to you to get petted. It works with horses anyway and they are both prey animals so it's worth a shot!![]()
Thx I went to see her today and I think she is getting more use to me I get a treat and kneel down then I put the treat in my knee so if she wants the treat she has to come on to me then i stroke her which she usually runs away from so quickly grab another treat and put an my lap so she has to come back
Thx for the advise did not know that touching the back was threatening where about on the chest just on her front under her beak?![]()
This is a quote but it is refusing to put it in a quote box just to let you know:
She didn't like me much at first, then one day, she became velcro. I have noticed, if you put them out with the bigger chickens for awhile, then you go back and 'save' them, they will love you forever. I didn't do this on purpose, I just noticed after a couple of times trying to add the younger ones.
Wow the light Sussex attacked her today in my arms she at ran her then I held her up high then she jumped at me so I pushed the Sussex back but she is still scared of me
