I read on the feather sexing too, but it says it only works if you have a slow feathering male over a fast feathering female right? Nearly all my chicks from my own eggs have a Cuckoo Marans for a daddy. If my understanding of the cuckoo barring is right - the cuckoo pattern is caused by the extremely fast feathering nature of the breed. So I am figuring that isn't going to do me much good. I would LOVE to hear that I am wrong about that :D
I haven't read up on that, normally I can tell if the primary & secondary are lined up together& equal length, it's a male, if its a female, the primary & secondary feathers are not lined up (looks like one row is slanted while the other is straight) & one row is shorter than the other. I did it to the 5 chicks which are marans. Let me try to get a couple pics for you :)

This is how I do it, if I can't tell then I will take a look at their vent. These are crossed with marans. Only a few days old. I guess for fast feathering, look at them when they are a day old? I'm not that experienced its just that this has worked for me in the past )

HI, It is neat to be able to feather sex.just a reminder that it only works for certain breeds......................
Goodness knows , I wish it worked for all of them........I have some 8 week old Orps that are making me crazy trying to sex them
A few are easy, but two seem to change from day to day................I know soon there will be saddle feathers and I will know...........................
Good Luck all.....................

Yeah, the one I wasn't sure about I had to check his vent, but after about a month, I could definitely tell which ones were male, they got their combs & wattles in faster than the others.

Wow! Keep us posted on the success you all have if you try these sexing methods! Would love to be able to sex as quickly as possible. While I would like a rooster to help the flock, don't want too many, nor should I have too many. They are legal here, but the neighbors might not appreciate more than one crowing, and if they get too annoyed, all the roos have to go. Anyway.....candled last night (day 7), and they all look good, except one that's a bit porous to see clearly, but it looks like it's going too.

out of the 14 chicks, 5 are males, 1 I am not sure about. So it's probably a male! tried to check the vent, but it was too hard, left it alone. So more than likely I will have 4-5 table birds. It is the same way out here. We're "allowed" to have chickens but I don't want complaints either.

Wow lots of good breeds, I guess Lavender is the new trend? Everyone seems to be hatching lavender types. They look really cool.
I cracked an egg, dropped my thermometer on it around day 10... I used candle wax to seal it, hatched fine. It's a silvery gray chick <3
