oh ya!! I almost forgot my 2 broodys out in the coop...but their clutches are from anybody who laid in that nest...they decided to sit so we let them!! there is a New Hampshire red, this is her first time and My Buff Orpington, name is Momma, this is her second time....anyway momma got up for a little bit today and I happened to be out there....the New Hampshire, named by my granddaughter "pecky" started moving mommas eggs up over the nest divider and sticking them up under herself!! is that too cute!!
That is so cute! my chickens all fight over one nesting box, so I divided them up & put an even amount in each one, guess what happened? ALL of them moved back in that one nesting box!
also next week setting silver laced and gold laced polish chicken eggs! shh don't tell hubby! lol

Lol!! If he finds out just tell him these ones are going to be special ;) You must be so busy!

LUCKY! I do most all of the chick care here, he just helps me take them outside for "playtime" and back in to the brooder.....oh, he's good at saying when it starts to smell like chicken poop too, LOL! Are the Lav Orps the ones you said you got from Rox? I have some Lav Orps and Lav Am eggs from her in the bator now, due to hatch next Sunday (Aug.4). Will hopefully be going down to TN next weekend to see Hardin's farm and get some eggs and chicks from him too.....glad honey isn't objecting!

Just candled for the first time and out of 14 shipped eggs it looks like at least 6 have chicks. This is my first hatch and attempt at candling so I could be wrong but I know I seen 6 with movement, today is day 7. Woohoo so exciting to see them growing.

Well just checked on the broodys, or should I say broody. The other girl was off the nest and the eggs were cold. I booted her back into the main coop and gave 2 more eggs to the good broody, so she's setting on 10 eggs. I snuck the other 5 into the incubator on the side next to the turner, guess I'll have to turn them by hand ;) So that makes 56 eggs total.
