My first hatch were brown eggs... very very brown eggs and by day 4/5, there was some indication of change... by day 7, there was tons of veining!. These are white eggs... very clear. No changes whatsoever. I plan on giving them 2 more days but I cant risk bad eggs in my bator. I already have a friend that is going to give me some eggs this weekend so I can try her's. I dont care about keeping the chicks, I just want to hatch em! LOLGood Grief.....what can a person tell on day4.....................please do not judge them to quickly.
I have seen so many decide the eggs were a wash....open the egg and discover a growing chick inside.
Maybe you have a better light than I do.
I hope the eggs are good.........................Good Luck![]()
It is probably that my eyes are so old that I di not see anything till day 11.........................My first hatch were brown eggs... very very brown eggs and by day 4/5, there was some indication of change... by day 7, there was tons of veining!. I have and LG still air I am going to use as a hatcher and I have been running it empty for a few days to get the hang of it. Doing pretty good at holding temps, and I have a layer of hemp woven fabric in the bottom that I am dripping water onto through the vent hole to get humidity. I have figured out for now that about 5 teaspoons of water gets me to 65% humidity. No matter how carefully and minutely I change the temp dial I can not get the desired 101. I get either 100 or 102. I am thinking that if I just leave it at 100, the additional heat from the chicks should make it fine. I am already hooked and not even done with my first hatch. I find myself skimming the hatching egg page and thinking.... I have 9 empty slots now... LOL! AND I have 25 chicks coming in the mail next Monday![]()
The plan is to lay them flat with the side up which shows the lowest dip in the air cell, have them all touching, and the way I am judging temp is having this hygrometer from walmart http://www.walmart.com/ip/AcuRite-Digital-Humidity-and-Temperature-Monitor/16888914 laying inside under the window where I can see it.On a still air you want 99 at bottom of bator and 101 at top of egg. Will you be hatching in cartons? Will you be laying flat? This will make a big difference.

Thoughts?
Yes, watch what happens to the temp on it, if you lay it down. It pulls in the air that it is reading, from the top. I bet the temp will drop if you lay it on its back.
So if it is standing up, the temp should be higher, lower laying down.
Having trouble deciphering what you just wrote - probably time for another cup of coffee, LOL! So, since it is laying face up in the bator it is should be reading ? what number? I know I sound dense... I think I AM dense today. Having so much trouble getting motivated.... our pollen count is through the roof and my brain doesn't want to work![]()
