Oh its a lot of drama right now... USPS lost them, my local folks found it. It wasn't going to be in till tomorrow. I knew they'd be dead so I made arrangements to go get them myself from the sorting hub. 2 dead on arrival, 1 barfed slime and died shortly after, one alive having barfed slime shortly after arrival, one with what I first thought was pasty butt and see now was goo stuck to its naval and a slightly protruding vent. It just got hosed off with warm water in the sink sprayer. Luckily I usually don't sleep much so I should be able to keep a pretty good eye on them. The Marans and the Faverolle are super funny. They are the spunkiest for sure, chirpiest, and one of the marans keeps trying to redecorate, LOL! It likes to find the edges of the papertowels and start a game of tug-of-war to see what is underneath. Probably going to have trouble from that one, LOL! They also appear to have sent 3 extra birds which is nice except I NEED the right breeds since I got them for breeding :/ They said call Friday for a total death count. I'd like to replace them - think we figured out it was a Buttercup, Silver Laced Wyandotte, and a Delaware that we lost. BUT, don't know which sex... so.... guess I'd have to get another of each. MEANWHILE, back in the bator.... I just candled the 20 eggs from my first batch (the refrigerated ones from my mutts) and each of them has a great air cell and is moving around in there. So today will be day 18 and I will be moving them to the hatcher. I have the hatcher running now to get stable. I also candle Batch 2 which is on day 15 now. 9 shipped Welsumer eggs from bwalden on BYC and 3 of mine. All appeared to be thriving. A couple of the shipped eggs have developed the crazy saddle shaped air cells although they looked normal before. Will be sure to put those in the hatcher right with the lowest dip facing up. And the Batch 3 shipped eggs should be here tomorrow for me to pick up at the PO. Thanks for askingfamilypendragon I'm afraid to ask but how were the chicks?
