August Hatch-A-Long!

Ugh, my chicks are due on the 4th. Went to candle and lockdown.... No movement at all. Dead chicks first hatch ever, wonder what went wrong only have 2 in the bator, and those are questionable

I often do and I don't have any problems, I've had them hatch in the egg turner at 15% humidity because they were early and I didn't expect them!! I do hesitate to open the incubator if it's waterfowl or something that has to have a really high humidity....this morning I have 5 Japanese bantams and 4 guinea keets!! 1 other bantam zipping!

Maybe they are not dead, just resting. I have looked at mine and saw no movement then checked them later and they moved.

I agree that they could be resting. Takes a lot of energy to get out if that egg. Would leave them in and wait and see.

I am beyond frustrated. My incubator jumped up again while I was sleeping. I replaced all batteries in all themometers, bought them yesterday. My temps are all over the place. I think it might have killed all of my chicks that are supposed to hatch tomorrow and the one that was supposed to have hatched already. I smell one of them but I can't tell which. They are all dark. I don't want to throw out a live chick. I have smelled each one, nothing up close. I give up on this batch. I am leaving it alone for the next few days. I hope my other incubators behave.

Im so sorry. Whar is the incubator you are having trouble with? I started my eggs in one with the wafer thermostat...it did that, drop down to 98 then up over 102 (who knows what the extremes were when i wasnt looking. I just bought a Brinsea and it stays where I set it +- .2 of a degree. I Love it. all future eggs are going in the Brinsea.

Looks like your chicker might be between day 15 and 17.

I also have a slight smell in the bator. I just pulled out each egg and smelled them all. None of them seems offensive. I just set them in yesterday. I washed it good with dawn after the last hatch. I'm wondering if the smell I got at the very end of that hatch permeated the fan area and it's blowing back out now. I'm not quite sure what to do.

Thanks Amanda--should be day 15 today and was concerned they looked a little big.
