August Hatch-A-Long!

Nashonii,
Good morning.....I count from the day I set............so if I set on Sunday. . I count three Sundays ahead and that is hatch day............

I would give the egg that has pipped or zipped more time on it's own......there is a thread " when to assist" perhaps you can find it in search.
I have messed more up helping than leaving them alone...............Almost never assist now........It can take 24 or more hours for a chick to hatch.

Concerning adding the eggs...............It takes 21 days no matter when they are started...............but hens are sooooo smart.
She will probably care for the hatched chicks and continue to set the other eggs until they hatch. Really, the hen will make this decision.............
My hens rarely hatch all the eggs on the same day.....

Good Luck.........................

Thank you ChickenFox, I'm glad to know how you count! BTW, the little egg finally hatched! It was just a spot of a peck for 24+ hr.s and I was going to assist. But b4 I got started I put the other chicks in a clean aquarium went to get well water and chick starter. When I came back, he was out! Wet, but I missed it again! Man, I thought he would take longer than that to pop out, since he took so long to get the hole formed! So now 90% of my very first incubaties have hatched! Just one lone egg left. Thank you for your advice! Glad to have you here!

Wow, that is so interesting Chickadee64! I'm so thankful to have all of you here to help!!!!!
As you may have read, I stepped out for less than 5 mins, and the little peeper was already out! Just popped out, still wet and resting, but made it! this one is the only one that took the full 21 days. I have a lot of early-birds, LOL. There is so much I am learning, and loving every min. of it. Just one more egg to go.
