August Hatch-A-Long

My first day with 2 eggs
400

The final count for our first hatching was 8 out of 12. We purchased the eggs, so we are happy to get 66%. We will have our breeding suites finished soon and will be able to use our own eggs. I have dubbed it the "Adam and Eve center for reproductive studies". Maybe I could get a grant for it, but not likely, since the nesting coupe is named the "Ronald Reagan center for economic growth".

Ok friends!! Day 18 and on lockdown!!!! I have 10 eggs I'm hoping will hatch without a problem

. Took the turner out and laid the eggs down, all but 1 with detached air sac. Just waiting for humidity to come up and temp to settle after moving things around. So exciting to see the eggs moving!!!! It's going to be so hard not to egg watch just to see them move...lol Good luck to all with any new chicks!

YAY! Day 18 here too. I'll probably pull my turner tonight. I'm going to put eggs in my bottomless egg cartons again so they don't roll around in the incubator.

So I have 5 eggs in incubation, 2 Sussex, and 3 Sussex/red sex link mixes. my Sussex eggs are pretty small (under 2 oz) today my Sussex decided to lay a normal egg. We are on day 3 of incubation. Could I add the egg to the incubation and just incubate t for 3 days longer?

Yes, you can add it if you really want to. I do it fairly regularly. You really don't want to spread out the hatches too much though. If you think you'll be inspired to add another egg tomorrow, just set this one aside until then too.

I recommend candling this egg before you set it, especially if it's significantly larger than the other eggs she lays. It might have a double yolk... which are notoriously difficult to hatch.

It was only 1 yolk. I added it. This will be all I can add. I was only supposed to set 3 LOL
