Ugh! I set my eggs last night and all was well but when I got up this morning the temp was 103.6. I hurried and opened it and its still riding 102. I have a hovobator 1602n still air. Hoping they didn't fry....

It's day two. We have been doing good 100-101* then this morning at 10 it was down to 93* not sure how long it's been like that...around 2am it was 100* will my eggs be oklay? I have it back up to 101.

Hi everyone. I hope i am not too lae for this hatch a long but my brown leghorn finally decided she should rather become a mother. The only glitch is she is sitting on 22 medium sized eggs laid by her and other chickens. She does have a good body size and no eggs appear on the outside when she is sitting, so i would kindly like a reply from anyone on whether i should let it be or if i shoud remove some eggs and if so, how many? Thank you a lot in advance. I cant wait for the last day fo this month. Good luck with your hatches everybody

hamzaahvalli- I would probably leave her with a dozen eggs. The issue with that many eggs is she may not be able to cover them all when they're fluffy chicks and have had a week or two to grow. I usually give my first time mothers 6 eggs, that way if they mess up I don't feel like its a huge loss. If they do well, I give them as many as they can cover the next go round.
22 babies would be a LOT for even the largest hen! Good luck with your hatch!

Probably fine. I used to put a towel over mine to keep it warmer at night, before I got my thermostat.

This is our first time with eggs, we are using them for meat birds. Once we find out if we can really do the butchering we will invest in a real incubator (i have a homemade one out of Styrofoam cooler) I like the thermostat idea, right now we have a dimmer.
