Well for right now s/he is just boppin' around the incubator. Gonna make a quail brooder today. I put it off since I wasn't sure if any would hatch. I'm still amazed how tiny it is. Oh - it's toes are curled - will that fix itself? It just started jumping around. I really don't want to make "boots" that tiny. I don't think I have the fine motor skills to do it.

I have only hatched quail twice so I don't know about the toes. I just use a ten gallon fish tank for a brooder to start with.

Yep.

Yes, I PM'd her and I talked to her through the PM system several times during the swap. I decided I wanted to play twice, and when she sent out the addresses I got two, not one.

Oh dear.

You will need to put shoes on him, to be sure. I had a chick hatch out with curled twos (button-baby), but we weren't able to fix it and the poor thing died!

@pbjmaker: The toes should correct themselves if you have it on stable flooring, such as a towel (NOT paper). Or if you have a brooder with wire floor (> 1/2") the toes should straighten out.

I have a question for all of you. I 'host' a swap similar to this on a facebook group. I've asked a question regarding 'pure' concerning sex-links. When I used to host this (BYC) swap, I did direct sex-link eggs to someone wanting 'pure' LF and didn't get any complaints. The FB swap is not big enough to have a 'designer' category, which is where things like EE, sizzles, and sex-links would fall here. For the FB swap, EE and sizzles are considered 'pure'.

So my question to you is, considering the parameters of the swap (EE and sizzles are 'pure'), would you consider sex-links pure? They are F1, meaning that the parents are not sex-links but the cross creates sex-links, so the chicks that hatch from the eggs will be sex-linked. I've only got one person to answer on the FB swap so thought I'd get a second opinion here

Purebreds produce offspring the same as themselves, so sexlinks are crossbred.
