I noticed the link, and thank you!I have a link at the bottom of the first post with one of the ways I pack my eggs. One thing to remember is when you think you have put in enough packing material, add more.

I have just started hatching for others in my area after the situation we had around here this spring. I would love to have more information on tagging (toe punch). I have heard of people using hypodermic needles and color tagging eggs, but at the moment I am just marking eggs (on the out side). Then if need be I put them under different brooder lamps. If you have a trusted site, I would love to read about more ways to tag. I'm sure I am not alone.I mark my eggs every time I collect them based on which pen they come from. I sell eggs so it is mainly for me so I send the correct eggs. I also have 2 different pens each of 3 different breeds (2 Langshan , 2 bantam Langshan and 2 Icelandic pens).when I hatch these for myself, the chicks get different toe punches.
I separate eggs from breeds that hatch out looking similar into different bators (I have 5) or stagger hatches so they are hatching different days. After hatch, I put a dot of nail polish on the top of the chicks heads & use a different color for each breed before I plop them in the brooder so I can keep them straight later. It's temporary, & comes off when they get their 1st set of juvenile feathers, but by then I can usually tell them apart pretty well by looking at feathers.I have just started hatching for others in my area after the situation we had around here this spring.
