August Silkie Hatch-A-Long!

I'm glad to hear you didn't lose power (I don't know why but I didn't get notifications for this thread, so I'm late with answering), I hope the storm is completely over now?
That's awesome that 7 eggs are doing so great - I'm crossing my fingers 🍀
Yeah 8 days is long and short at the same time 😆
The storm is over now but we've def have a stormy week. Which is good- it's been soooo hot here lately. So hot that one day I had to take two of my chicks from the brooder in the coop and place them in a miniature outside coop. They're not quite big enough to be with the chickens yet. Almost though.

Thankfully the storm is over! But I agree - sometimes a weather change is not bad, especially in a heat wave.
This year we do have such a rainy, wet summer here...I even don't really want to call it summer.
That's great that you did have the possibility to put your two babies from the brooder in a miniature outside coop with such high temperatures 👍

It's not the greatest coop. Just one I ordered from Amazon and put together myself, but it does it's job. I'm not very impressed with it and had planned on using it as a brooder for a mama to raise babies in until they were big enough, but it's definitely too small for that. So now I just keep it for occasions like this.

My dad and I want to create a bachelor flock for all of our roosters (well, all of the non-bantam roosters. Any bantam roosters we hatch will stay with my coop) and I just love this coop. Not sure if the person who made it did it from complete scratch or if they had loose plans. But once we have our bachelor flock set up and have a few coops for the boys to choose at night, I'll feel much better. We've hatched out so many roosters it's overwhelming.

Oh! That makes sense. Well definitely take as many pictures as you can and post them here if you'd like! I'd love to see them.
Broody momma adopted the new babies! Did I mention that 3 are under a week old and one is around 3 weeks old? Anyway she adopted all of them! Sooooo happy:wee

That's ideal to have an extra coop for special situations :thumbsup

Yeah that coop from the link is cool, I love the overgrown roof! Very creative.
I'm too creating a bachelor flock at the moment. I have 5 boys and 6 girls (4 months old), so 4 boys will be bachelors. I got the opportunity to purchase a well built little wood-wagon (originally built for carnival parades) and I will remodel it as a 'bachelor mobile home'. I'm not so sure about the run at the moment - a-frame tractor or something different...

:fl:hit:yesss: - Congrats! I'm glad to hear your sweet broody adopted all the babies - what a great mommy :love
Awww so heartwarming 🥰
I found Cupcake ( the black one) laying on his side. He didint cheep not have any energy left to move. I took him inside fed him raw egg yolk and put him under a heating pad. He started cheeping more and ocassionaly sits up. I hope he will live. It isn't broody mommas fault cuz he had a little issue with walking and keeping his eyes open. So I’d say he is hypothermic? I hope he will live:fl:oops::hit
