She is bigger than our other Two week olds. The others are a SLW and a GLW. They are so much more chill than this one! Is it typical for the breed? She is also a loud mouth! She jumps right out of the brooder and pecks everyones eyes! Brutal! I realy hope she is a girl though....Black Austrolorp by the way

I am no expert here, but I have 4, 5 week old Australorps in the brooder. For your chick, it is way to early to tell really. Out of my 4 chicks, I had all different sizes and one of them even seemed huge. But at 5 weeks old, they have all caught up with each other.

But judging from the way my girls looked at 2 weeks, yours seems feathered out like a female. Give it a few more weeks and you will definitely be able to tell.

Ok. Great. Thanks! Guess she is just fresh! Lol Is this typical for them? I hear they are sweet.

Pullets can sometimes act aggressive at that age. Feisty. She is just curious about her world. Keep handling her a LOT. After a while she will get really sweet. My girls are already enjoying being held and snuggled with. She is a cutey pie!

Our top hen is a BA named Precious. She is bossy with the other hens and keeps them in line. We have even caught her jumping on their backs or grabbing their comb/wattles. She is definitely a she and lays 5-6 brown eggs a week. Maybe you have a top hen in the making there?!
