I am building my coop out of old fencing. There is some space in between the boards. Should I cover the outside to keep it from being too drafty(especially in winter). I see some designs using insulation. I am on a very low budget and using recycle/reuse materials.

Hi and welcome to byc. My coop is covered on 3 sides with hardware cloth. I screwed a tarp around it to keep drafts out. Its not beautiful, but cost effective and removeable. I think your chicks will enjoy a breeze in the summer time.
