Hmm, I bought a dozen mixed eggs from her and all their colours turned out different to what she told me they would be. And my favourite Wyandotte isn't a recognizable colour. I'm quite annoyed actually..

I've got my bators set again

And mamma hen Newt now has 7 chicks under her, the sickly one picked up after the vitamins and one of the two eggs hatched out fine, the last one is pipping!

Good luck with your hatch Chook. I think I may have fried my poor eggs in the bator yesterday. I could not keep the temp down even with the fan going full bore and removing the lid a lot. It hit 39.5c a few times. Well I guess we will see come Sunday.

You know we desperately need raining when last night we where watching telly when my son says mum there is a snake near my toes.. Look down on the floor and there is a tiny little snake the size of a biro right near his toe lol. Not sure what it was but we took it out side and let it go. Poor things are probably looking for water as there is none around for the hatchlings at the moment.

In my experience, yes, they can. Here is our old boy having a go. Just to even things up a bit we had a pullet seem to have a go at crowing. We did not have any roo's at the time.

How cute! It is pretty rare to see really young snakes lie\ke that.
