Hi sooner! That is funny because we are the Sooner State so I though you were referring to that! We are Sooners because we didn't play nice during the Land Rush and got there sooner than anyone else!

We're pretty dry here I hope when our weather changes we get caught up on rain. Last summer it was hot and dry and the flies were insane!

I remember watching a movie years ago called "Soggy bottom USA" they had a dog in it called Sooner lol
Back then I always wondered why he was called that Till I did some research

Ever had one of those days when you should have stayed in bed
Went to feed the 8 week olds this morning and one of the aussie frizzle babies got out. I spent 20 minutes chasing her down through the back part of the property. In the end I had to give up as she darted off into the long grass.. I am hoping she'll be back tonight. I then go inside to check the marans egg that was pipping in the bator to find one of the eggs has exploded... Hmmm... Not good... Only the second time I had that happen. I candled before lockdown and was pretty sure that two were not fertile but had no signs of any oozing eggs and no bad smells... Think perhaps I should go back to bed and start again

Oh no exploding eggs are no fun. I went out to find 2 little white silkies hatched, I will wait till the others hatch then move them into a little hutch , away from the others.

Man, I hope that rain is coming later in the week, Satay. This weather makes me feel like I am back in north western Victoria.

Satay, more marans!! Have you sold many eggs through the fb site, cos I see a couple wtb for marans eggs? I have a bit of an inferiority complex and am always worried that the eggs I sell wont be dark enough. A;so, I dislike the whole postage bit. As you know, mine have very good fertility, but they get very ordinary hatch rates when I post them. Sold all the girls from the last hatch by 2 weeks old, so just put some more in the incubator.

Found an egg stash yesterday, with about 25 eggs in it, all from one young marans girl.

Mmmmm. I don't candle before lockdown, and I hear that it will only take one exploding egg to change that!! My sympathies Satay. Do it - go back to bed for the day.
