Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I have runners and muscoveys and 1 pair of khaki campbells. I did have a pair of welsh harlequins until the neighbours dog killed them earlier this year. My muscoveys are my favourites as they are the flrendliest of the ducks. My welshies were friendly too. I agree with you ash. Mine love snails and chilli's lol. We have a few chilli bushes around the place and i see them regularly helping themselves to some chilli's lol. Mind you our 10 month old pup helped him self to most of the mulberries of my mulberry bush this year.
Thought i'd post a couple of pics of our locals lol
Vic the tree frog that comes around in the evenings for moths. (hubby hand feeds him)
and big boy decided to come for a visit this morning. We call him big boy cause you hear him calling the girls at night. (sounds like a wild pig if you didn"t know better). He gets in the tree right outside the front door.

Are Muscovey Ducks good layers??? Love the Locals i have, 2 Huge Carpet pythons around the house and live in the roof on wet days and about 5 huge green tree frogs like your one and a family of Local Magpies that we hand feed to say thanks for protecting our chickens from the Raptors, hawks etc.

Muscovies arent great layers- being more seasonal than year round- But they make up for that by being great mothers

Runners are great egg layers.

Does anyone here show at local small agricultural shows? Im off to the Kyneton ( Victoria ) Show tomorrow. I love going to the small rural shows- the Royal Melbourne is good- but there is so much more community and country feel to a country Ag show.

Agree with Ducky my muscoveys lay well up until winter and then i don't get an egg again til spring. They are great mum's mine has 2 baby runners right now where as my runners so far have never gone broody. We have a pair of maggies too that bring their new borns down in the spring. Used to be so scared of maggies til we moved here but this pair is super friendly. Have a couple of beared dragons that come around too but have never thought to take a picture of them. Also have king parrots and galahs and rainbow lorrikeets that come by for seed too.

I have a welsummer baby. One out and 3 pipping. These must be super strong babies. We had a massive storm that came by last night as the first one was trying to get out and lost power 6 times only for small amounts of time. We have lost power 3 more times today.

Luke he is a lovely rir rooster. I like mine they are quiet boys and very protective of their girls. I have 3 welsummers out this morning and 2 more pipping. Sorry about your lost babies. Some mums just aren't good mothers. Congrats on the leghorn baby. A few years ago I took in a pair of white leghorns that were left at a property near hubby's work in Brissy after the renters moved out. They were quite old but lovely birds. I hatched many a chick from the pair and every single one was a rooster lol. Hence why I have none now.
