Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Quote: Wow, that's a fair few colours. Are they all mixed at the moment then?

Quote: Well my Frizzles are technically not 'real' Frizzles according to the Australian standard so I am not going to name then as so, but yes I will be selling/ giving away some 'Frizzle Gened' birds.

Not a fun morning for me. Went to docs appointment with Hubby came home to find two of my beautiful pekins killed ( 1 killed 1 missing) and my new Belgium rooster also dead....

I am so sorry for your loss, but very glad that missing Pekin returned safety.
Do you know what predator that took the others?

This is the first glimpse I got of my missing girl this morning

@Teila , yes as everyone has said those are boys.

Has anyone used Diatomaceous Earth as a natural parasite control? (For mites/lice, etc?)
I have a big 20kg bag og it, something like that anyway.
I really like it, it easily gets rid of lice for me and has gotten rid of a few mite infestations, but the bigger the infestation the more times you have to apply. I think one time I did it 4 times ( every week ) until they went. I really don't know what effect it has on me or the chickens breathing wise etc. I just wear gloves and a dust mask and knock on wood have had no negatives towards it.
I know people put it where their chickens dust but it rains so often here at the moment that its a waste for me.
As Fancy has said there are many sources and opinions on DE here on BYC.

Bought myself a ferris wheel!
hahahah, very cool.

@satay .

Kym, how hard are quail chicks to raise from day old???
As you know most of our quail have been taken ( we only have one left ) but we want to still continue on with them.
This time we want to hatch and raise some. Are they just like tiny chicken chicks or are they much harder???

Just tiny chickens Luke infact i find them much easier than chicks actually. Just pop them in the brooder with gamebird starter and some acv in the water and thats about it really.
