Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Do you only have tank water rexy? I have a bore but gosh it would take all day.

Yup. Never been close to running out, but don't want to test mother nature either, so don't waste any. Also why I have lost a lot of plants in the dry. I am a bit of an old farmer. I don't believe in using scarce ground water for cosmetic purposes when farmers need it for their living.

It's a tough life on acerage

I used to be like that to when i only had tank water but if i didn't have a bore now i would have had to buy water for the tanks alot this year. I only have a 5 thousand gallon tank on the house as well. Have other tanks around off sheds etc but only one for the house.

It's not cosmetic, it's hygenic & being considerate to my neighbours and the rest of my family. I can clean out the run & coop & dispose of the poop, but it's not so easy when they have pooped all over a lawn that is my backyard - as in the grass that goes around a persons home, not the area some distance from your home as you would have living on a farm or acerage.

I think rexy was talking to me in that one about not wasting water when you are on tanks. People who have never had just tank water don't understand just how quick you can be out of water and have to wait for rain or pay a fortune for water to be delivered. I certainly didn't. I don't think any of us begrudge you hosing off you back yard so you don't have a lot of poop in one area.

It's amazing how little water you can get by with really. At our cottage we don't have a well or running water. We can usually manage a week with a 40 liter canister for four people. For washing we do collect rainwater though, and the sea is right there too.
