Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I like the name "Skittles" and congratulations on getting an egg. I'm so excited while browsing this thread. I get a lot of information that is very helpful to me.

Thanks guys. They aren't actually yolk on them, it was more dampness. Like they were wet, some colour from the egg carton had transferred to them which was strange as each was also wrapped in bubble wrap. I'm wondering if they may have been washed before packing. I'll add a photo later.

Hmmm not sure appps ,maybe contact the seller see if they had washed them or not.

They tend to sweat in plastic, I wrap mine individually in paper towel , place in a carton and then wrap with bubble wrap.

You know that makes more sense, there was one that was a tiny bit dirty which doesnt make sense if they had been washed. Must have just been sweating.

Hanging out now for it to get a bit darker to candle them!

Okay so just candled three of them. One I can't see an air pocket. The second one has a dark area that to be honest looks more like a yolk than air that floats from one end to other. The third is the same but doesn't move as easily as the second.

Does this mean it sounds like a failure?

Thinking I will put them all under her later without worrying about candling further just yet and then candle and throw on day 8 if obviously no good by then. Figure they won't reach explode level that soon. I'm so new at this I'm probably just going to make it worse trying to candle them.

Yep, sounds like a plan. Candle at day 8-9 see what you have and go from there.

Got to much going on, which breeds should I sell and stop having;

My Yoko's? Which Ive only just got. I can charge a lot for them but not sure if anyone will buy them down my way. I have only got two of them. Really hard to contain to breeder pens. The new breeders pens Ive built for them will go to waste if I sell them. I really like them, not keen on parting.
or
My White Leghorns? Ive got a rooster, 3 hens and about 8 chicks growing up. I know I can sell them either as fertile eggs or live birds. Easy to look after.

Maybe not buying down your way but will people buy eggs if you ship them?
