That's true. I had given this one up for dead, it was so cold but once it came back up to temp it wanted out. It will be a roo for sure, all the ones I save are.

Time: Poultry Shed will open from 9.00am to view the birds. The Auction will commence at 10.00am

All buyers must register prior to bidding and payments are by cash only

All birds will have informational cage labels with breed, gender, age and colour to help you in the buying process. Plus knowledgeable volunteers will be happy to answer all your questions about the birds up for auction. Food and all accessories needed for your new birds will be available for purchase.

All penning fees and profits from the day will be donated to A Taste of Paradise to build them a organic permaculture garden. They are a local charity who run a Farm Based Mentoring and Work Experience Program for Young People, a Mixed Enterprise Permaculture and Organic Farm, plus have an Endangered Plant Species On Farm Conservation Project.

Parking is available inside the showground for a donation

Refreshments are available all day including free range egg and bacon rolls and gourmet coffee

If you are planning on buying some birds remember to bring boxes

Over 800 birds will be up for auction.

I conducted a bit of a supervised test with the weather so nice so I had the chicks in their cage outside in the run with my 2 old isa's and they came over had a look and wanderes off so I let the chicks out for their first scratch the old girls came over looked at me looked at them theb laid down to have a sand bath. Keep in mind not broody or even social hens well when she left what im to beleave is my only girl out of 5 decided she wanted a sand bath too right ontop of everyone lol

And please remember that no matter whether the sellers are registered breeders or not , you must quarantine any new birds to your property.
 
Howdy from Adelaide. Ive spent all day pretending to work/reading this thread. Has been a great read and seeing all the cute little babies has made my tolerable.

I have 2 1yo chickens, 1 who started laying not long ago, 1 who hasnt started yet but should be soon. And my friend is currently babysitting 3 chicks (about 1 month old) as I was interstate last week (broody hen rejected them after killing 12 eggs she was sitting on).

So this weekend I will be building a coop inside the coop just for the 3 babies. The main coop is huge and this will be temporary til they arent going to peck them.

Love my chickens but man they can be hard work at times Lol
