Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

The pair of magpies around here are horrible at the moment!
They swoop the chickens in the morning and afternoon and eat their food :rant

We have magies here never had a prob but I have a bird feeder I put dry dog biscuits in for them. They come down all the time and bring there new babies to show me each year. I'm probably a little odd as you all know by now but I love the sound of maggies singing in the morning.

@City farm
, it's sand in my run mixed with whatever Snowy has dug up under the sand & food she has helpfully dispersed for her chicks.  So far it has been ease to sieve of all debrit except the crumbles so I'm going to have to change something there.
Also, I may have a romanticised notion of the industry & it may be different in the states, but I thought you had to apprentice before someone is usually willing to sell you a falcon.  I'd be interested to hear your experiences if you decide to go ahead & get one for your DH for his birthday.  :D

@Jellybaloo, congrats on your new lovely ladies!  I was most tempted by the baby goats yesterday so it was easy to come home with only a couple of red velvet cupcakes.  :D

The goats were cute
The lady near there had silkie chicks which my son loved because she let him hold one
We got there right on 9 and only stayed for 20 mins, there wasn't much there though maybe we were too early?
We endup getting Mia and Bella from somewhere else later in the day

We have a couple of Magpies hanging around at the moment but they are not as bad as the Crows!

During the supervised afternoon free range, the run door is left open .. twice now I have had to retrieve their plastic food dish from the middle of the garden because a Crow has gone in the run and tried to drag it away; last time he nearly got it over the back fence and into the neighbours yard!

Keeping a very close eye on the Crows and my bubs!

So agree with you, crows are a nightmare.

@IamSamSam Haha that's funny
Wish the magpies here were nicer
Our poor chickens run for the hills when they hear a magpie wardle
They hide under the stairs and if the magpies are particularly bad they will start squawking so we come out and shoo them away

Our cat helps to keep them away if he's out the front, lucky he's good with the chickens lol

Yep that's us too Satay. Our backyard is the local crèche.

1000

There were three more on the roof out of camera range. (Excuse the mess, mid pool install)

The chickens used to chase them off a bit but gave up in the end lol

Will have to get a photo but little peep has been learning to eat out of our hands. We put our hand in on the floor with some scratch mix for mum and penny calls him to come sit in it lol. He sits in your hand but is only playing with the scratch mix but it's good that she is teaching him it safe :)
