Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Hey appps thanks for that; if I can't keep Spot then Gloria will definitely be staying (s)he is also a sweetie. Can I ask a favour in the form of a picture of Al? I know, I probably should go looking for one you have posted previously, but it gives you a good excuse to show off your gal

Thank you Fancy, I appreciate your honesty. Of course, I also have my concerns which is why I hint at living in denial

I do not need to make any decisions just yet; I can only hope that I will know for sure a bit sooner than I did with Tina; 10 months!

Thank you AussieChics .. yeah, love all of my gals and don't really have any favourites but LuLu the adult Frizzle (feather explosion) is the clown of the flock, she has such a funny little chickenality! She is, in fact, hubby's chicken and he reminds me of that often! lol. Mind you, I have no doubt that if she goes broody, she will be my problem

Tina is the biggest softy out! Such a beautiful temperament.

I have one more gal who did not get her picture taken today because the batteries died on the camera (probably from over use!), but this is Blondie:

Had a little search and actually now looking at her, yours has a redder comb. Hopefully that isnt a bad sign, cant remember did you say it has black skin? If not black that could explain the colour difference. All my baby photos below are at 8 weeks so two weeks more advanced than yours.

And this little black one was our Rooster at 8 weeks who had a comb similar to your grey one, his was still black at this age and not as big :(

And this is captain how is actually the one looks like Gloria, duh (well knew she looked familiar lol), but captain had the same comb as your little grew one. This is captain at 8 weeks (and her comb doesnt come close to the grey ones and she is two weeks older) and then all growed up :)

and all growed up.

appps thank you!

Yep, Gloria has black skin and that tinge of red in the comb does have me concerned. Knowing my luck they will both be roosters

No wattles on Gloria as yet so that is the only thing in his/her favour at this stage in comparison.

Yep, your little rooster definitely makes Spot look like he may be looking for a new home

As I mentioned earlier, no rush just yet to make a decision; just hope I know sooner rather than later.

Captain is beautiful!

Not at all. The old spice ads are American and I look forward to felix's queries about iron man food.
Just our Aussie humour.

I have a funny story about Old Spice. When DH and I were dating, he came over one night and my son's friend (Tristin-they were around 8years old) was over for a sleep over that night. DH walked in and I introduced everyone and Tristin says "HI! You smell like my GRANDPA!" LOL! I still tease him when he wears cheap stinky stuff!

All those beautiful pics of the chicks & roses

. I also have fallen in love with the frizzles! I'm with AussieChics! I now want a frizzle too. Maybe this spring for us, I will order a few. Cant have just one!

Hey folks, apologies in advance this one is probably going to be long and heavy with photos! Had a great day in the garden today with adults and bubs. First up, before I bring on the pictures and have my dreams of keeping my little grey chick totally shattered, some pictures of my pet quality Silkie Tina's comb. The debate raged right up until her first egg on whether she was a pullet or rooster; she even has spurs! (PS. the eggs she hatched were not hers, we do not have a rooster) The little grey one has a nick name of 'Spot', this is not a gender guess but just a nickname until we know. Spot because (s)he was always hiding in mum's feathers and you had to play spot-the-chicken. Spot is a barnyard mix, obviously with Silkie in there somewhere. Spot has black skin and 4 toes. I just love Spot and want to keep him/her but if it is him, no can do ..... OK, go ahead, I'm prepared, shatter my dream! ;) Spot is 6 weeks old on Monday: I love the colour and sooo cute! 'Gloria', again not a gender guess, just a nick name because that was all that was on the egg (s)he hatched from; no breed, no date, just 'Gloria'. Gloria is also 6 weeks old, barnyard mix, has black skin, 4 toes and is obviously a frizzle ;) The two of them together: These little one's are Blondie's little barnyard bantam mix; coming up for 3 weeks old. I have no idea what they are mixed with or what I am looking at except they are kinda cute: 'Allsorts' because (s)he was all sort of colours when hatched: 'Bear' because the black and brown markings on his/her head reminded me of a bear! lol Thought I would also share a picture of the ponds .. still need the greenery to grow around them some more and hide the structures but we are getting there: Tina looking very fluffy: Dusty trying to look sweet and intelligent at the same time: This explosion of feathers is LuLu enjoying a dust bath: And this one is Cilla who is determined to be broody. I gave her an ice bath yesterday and made her sleep on the roost last night. This morning when I got up she was in the nest box so I locked her out of the coop. Once everyone had finished laying, I took the nest boxes away and opened up the coop. This is Cilla's way of telling me that if I leave her no other options she is going to be broody on the roost in the middle of the day! lol
Beautiful chickens. I would be leaning towards rooster for your frizzle at this age but It is tricky to sex them so young.
