Congrats! It's a pretty egg & that is a lovely range of colours. : ) Congrats to AussieChick too on your new layer. Happy Birthday to Cilla & Dusty. :yiipchick Holding thumbs that your chook pulls through K Spot. Welcome to all the new folks. I look forward to chicken maths taking hold. :caf
Very nice basket.. We happen to have a variety of egg's one day. The top egg's are from our flock, the chocolate with patterns are from another member that raises jumbo quail, the one around those are wild dove egg's from a friend that rescues wild bird's.. We cook those up for the dog's.. And last but not least is a duck egg..

Sardines in lieu of a birthday cake:

"OK, I know I am molting but it does not stop me striking a pose!"

Cilla, one of the birthday girls:

Dusty, the other birthday girl:

"Look Mum, headless Zombie Chickens!"

"Did we scare ya?"

"Yoga by the water .. I call this one the Black Swan!"

"Hey Goldfish, did you know it is my birthday?!"

The plant life around the ponds is really starting to take a hold:

Thank you everyone for your well wishes.
Snitzel is still in the land of the living. She's doing ok considering she's so torn up. Even laid another egg.
My biggest challenge will be trying to keep her cool and keeping the flies away. She's in a plastic dog crate at the moment and my husband has gone to Bunnings to get some fly-screening.

Happy birthday to Dusty and Cilla and congrats on your new layer Aussiechicks!

Poor girl. An over spray of cetrigen will keep the flies away. But best to keep her indoors if at all possible. Did you irrigate or flush the wound with saline or betadine ? It's important to flush out any saliva .

Yes I flushed it out, unfortunately my husband draws the line at having her indoors (my dogs are primarily inside with us when we are home anyway as well).

Would it be worth flushing again?

Hey guys!

Just joined up, my wife and I live in Adelaide, South Australia.
We recently inherited a lovely 4 year old Isa Brown from a friend who could no longer look after her. Looking to get another couple in the next few days.

Almost finished building the coop (will post photos shortly).

Look forward to meeting everyone
