Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Sounds odd. I would suggest if anyone wants to try them find one at a markets. They should be sweet and juicy. Visions of appps munching down on some aloe vera :lau

I can't even bear the smell now blech lol

Our dragon fruit was definatly not sweet or juicy. Think it must have been like most supermarket fruit picked green and refrigerated.

Hey 4 of my chicks have leg problems and 1 died this always happens  when I breed Plymouth Rock chicks  any idears?

If they are your own chickens you are breeding from I would lead to a genetic fault. If that is the case don't breed from them. If they were incubated I would also suggest that you check your temp as high temps lead to these types of issues too. If it was me with that problem I would cull the chicks. I find hips one of the hardest things to correct if there is a problem. I wish you luck if you go ahead and try to correct them. I hope you get a good outcome.

They are awesome though - how else can you easily create your own fat or oil substitute at home?

You can modify 'arid' hugely through correct preparation.  Don't want to sound like I'm lecturing, or anything, but have a look for swales, hugelkultur, and other methods which can be used to lazily get microclimates established around fruiting trees.  I am a lazy gardener!  That's why I love my chickens, partly, they do SO MUCH of the work for me.

Can chickens eat avocado?  I think I remember not?

I believe it is the seed that is toxic to chickens etc but I don't feed any avacados to my poultry to be safe,

Thanks.

These are the pic of all four
The last ones toes would benefit from shoes and when you are taping for splayed leg, cut a normal bandaid in half length wise , stick round the first leg , (leaving the wound dressing between the legs ), then wrap the other. At 4-5 days the bones are still quite soft and it is possible to rehabilitate them. As satay said, best not to breed with these birds, but I would definately be looking at the feed.

Its is so sad to see, I can't help with the causes, or the cure. But as an animal lover, and perhaps a over abundance of empathy I follow the rule of nature. If these chicks were roaming free in the wild, and citizens of a genetic pool, what would mother nature do?
Too too sad an outcome, whatever you do I am sure it will be out of kindness and care.
