Just thought I'd pop in, introduce and say hello.

My Poultry:
I have 27 eggs in the incubator, 6 chicks in the brooder (Sebright and Silkie), 6 Isa Browns, 2 cross-bred Roosters and 3 Guineas. Also a smattering of dogs and cats, but who counts them?

Just quickly to Sydney Quailman, what type of quails do you breed?

Cool! I was just asking because I plan to get some quail in the future (once I've finished my quail runs which are about 100 away from the chooks) and I wanted to know what quail work best with our climate.

sounds great, if you have a incubator happy to give some eggs and hatch some.

jap quails are hardy birds, they can stand all different temps, providing you have good housing for them.

Thank you! I just had a look at your photos, and you have some very handsome birds. I have to finish the quail aviaries first, then I'm going to incubate some eggs. When I'm ready though, I'll give you a PM. When do your quails stop laying for the year?

Just got my new girl today! The man said she's fourteen weeks old but she's tiny and doesn't have all her feathers yet. My Plymouth rocks were fully grown and laying at sixteen weeks.
This little girl is so much fun she's happy to sit on my lap and hang out and she climbs all over everything in the yard. And so smart
<3 her already

Plymouth Rocks are a lovely breed of chook.

But you're right about her size, I would be surprised if she was actually older than 10 weeks. But on the bright side, it means you have more time for her to adapt to your coop. She is really does seem to fit right in, going by the photo.
