tandykins I am definitely far from an expert when it comes to painting chicken's nails (never having tried it and never having wanted to try it) and these were just some of the replies.
But, I tend to agree that while also being a pointless exercise, I don't think it can be good for them.
Steampunked, get them to sit still why it was drying? I would have trouble getting them to sit still while I painted it on; they would have it up their legs!
Just stuff I pick up while surfing BYC when I should be working
My latest 'point of interest' is a poster who advised that she lost her favourite hen but had some fertile eggs of hers in the fridge. They had been "washed, dipped in a bleach solution and sat in the fridge for 5-6 weeks". She says she "took them out of the fridge, set them on the counter to come up to room temperature and then put them in the incubator". At 4 days she reckons she "could see veins and an embryo" and they are "currently pipping and zipping"! She says the only thing she did different was to "add extra humidty for the entire incubation (55%) to make up for the air cells already being larger from drying out in the fridge for over a month".
