Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Aaaaw Rainbowchooks they are sooo cute!

Thanks RodneyRooster I hope your weekend away was enjoyable.

Every summer hubby drags the large wading pool, complete with pump etc, out of the shed, pumps up the support ring, fills it with water and pretty much lives in it!

The poor ole pool that we have had for 4 years now has seen better days and the support ring has developed a few leaks, causing breaches, water loss and dramas etc.  So we made a decision that next summer we will get a new one (for $100, 4 summers was pretty good value!).

Anyways, as I am cutting this thing up to put in the wheelie bin I had a light bulb moment … the floor of the pool with make a great rain coat for the run.  After discarding the sides and support ring, I measured up the floor, cut it, scrubbed it and as we have the possibility of rain today and tomorrow, I am using it now to cover the main run.  It doesn’t cover the whole set up and I still had to use my previous shower curtains as well but it is a definite improvement.  [I am going to veer away from this now, but the reason I mention it will be revealed soon].

As I have been taking many, many photos of the nuggets and I had 40 minutes up my sleeve before the girls went to bed, I thought I would spend them taking some photos of Dusty, post moult and anyone else who would pose.

Well, I think they are punishing me!  After 40 minutes, crawling all over the lawn for the best position, a couple of ‘eeew’ moments with chicken poop, getting eaten alive by mozzies and taking countless photographs .. I got nothing!

Well, I did get something, I got blurred chicken pictures, headless chicken pictures, pictures of chicken’s butts and pictures of just the lawn!

I reckon they had a meeting and have decided that they are going to make me pay for taking so many pictures of the bubs.  Dusty, no doubt, has told them about all the embarrassing moult photos I took of her and shared.

Not only is Bambrook Bantams a no-egg zone, it is also a no-photos zone also!

I have a good mind to go out there, repossess the beautiful new rain coat I made them, let them get wet, take pictures of them and enter them in the wet chicken competition! :lau

Too funny Teila

NA I love your rain pics.:) We actually had a little rain yesterday too and overnight as well. Think it happened as I told one teenage son he had to mow yesterday :p It's cooling down at nights here too but not as cold as that sam so you can keep those temps. Went to Brisbane on Saturday night for my mums 65th birthday was so nice and warm at night there .

Hi guys!! Haven't been around in a while , had a world of trouble trying to log in, kept telling me it couldn't load the page. I wrote this last night and it's taken forever to actually post it.
any who, still no eggs here, pushing 30 weeks and 26 weeks respectively, no new photos but they are looking good. poor Cho had a run in with a dog the other morning, not my own for once, she lost a few feathers but you'd never know. The rest I found camping in the neighbours drive way, when they saw me Fleur came right to me with the rest cautiously following behind till they saw the coop then they couldn't back quick enough. They aren't lap birds but they know who brings the food.

In other news my husband has decided to move to Brisbane leaving me a single mum of 3 kids. Things haven't been great for a whole now so it's no big surprise but it was sudden at the same time. Right now i don't know what my future holds, the kids and I are staying in the house (which we've owned for 1 year today!) but I don't know if we will be still able to afford the mortgage now! So I've had to make the hard decision to let go of some of my animals. My dog Loki who I've had since birth is heading out to my uncles farm where he can run to his hearts content. I always wanted a chocolate border collie, always, now I have to give him up it breaks my heart but it's better for him, his mum is much more laid back and couldn't care less if I don't walk her every day, or even every week. The snakes are going, they aren't my thing so doesn't bother me, but the rats are going too, I still can't stand rats in general but I've grown attached to my guys, i think I might keep my favourite boy and one of the latest babies but we will see . The cat is already gone. No way I can give up my chooks though! I fact I've acquired 2 more, I pick them up on Tuesday, I'll have to share a pic to get opinions on breed as the lady who has them doesn't know. I've decided that since building a new coop now would be stupid I'm going to convert the old tank stand, it's destined to be removed so if we do have to sell it's no big loss compared to laying a slab and building. When I get a chance I'll take some photos and get some advice on the cheapest easiest way to predator and weather proof.
