Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Have some photos showing rooster dignity:

He sat in there while she pushed him for a while.

I'm reasonably sure most children use puppies for the whole 'pretending I have a baby' thing!

In other news, I have to look into a no-crow collar - we live in a rural area, but the neighbour is annoyed by the crowing and wants it to stop. Not sure if it'll work, but it might help. When we get the coop finished, it will be insulated, which will help a lot with sound proofing!

Or they tell their cat that they can be their puppy for the day. : )

I missed lots again, which is nice catching up, but I miss out on commenting.

appps, good to hear about the cooked rice. Between the rice & a few sardines she's bound to plump up again. : )

Fancy, beautiful frost pics. I look forward to vicariously enjoying the daffodil pics in spring

I noticed a heap of black feathers in the coop this morning so it looks like my austrolorps have started their moult. It's very considerate of them to spread it out as I'm still getting 2 eggs a day. I think that Pearl may have started laying - & laying blue eggs, because I'm getting more than one a day occassionally. I have found a few in odd places so have had to start playing hunt the egg but that may change as Pearl gets more assertive now that she can see. Sadly, with my exams looming I can't spend as much time stalking her as I'd like to see if she is laying, but it will be a nice treat once I can.

What do you use? I tried googling but the things you see recommended aren't always things you can buy in Australia

She gurgles when she eats the watermelon but not gaping at all. There were some air bubbles came up into her mouth with the gurgling the other day.

The active constituent is levamisole . Are there 2 dosage rates on the bottle ? Levamisole will work on gapeworm but it is usually dosed at higher more frequent rate. Chickens eating earthworms, snails and cockroaches are more susceptible to gape.
I doubt that you are dealing with gape but the kilverm treats more worms than the piperazine . I use levamisole and then rotate to fenbendazole ( panacur ) .
Here's some info on gape .

Glad those collars work for you. I thought that they would have been too thin. I purchased a "NoCrow" Crow collar because I'm in suburbia and we can have a rooster Untill a complaint is made - so far Fred hasn't attempted to crow ( at 5 mths old and had his big boy cluck not baby cheap) but I chose it due to the width of the collar - having said that it is a personal choice
