Solar powered light? Clockwork timer? Not easy.

But solar would defeat the whole purpose as I'm trying to get them up before the sun!

Have a good sense of humour, and I'll keep a lookout for those varments! The one photo actually looked a lot like my old neighbor Ray in Mount Annon where we used to live. Will be with damily in Rouse Hill til we get settled, probably closer to city for work. Maybe Parramatta, so may be awhile before I have Silkies again

Well, you could charge up a 12 volt battery from your mains supply every so often, but, yes , they are designed to work with a solar panel.
