Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I've got 10 eggs due on the 1st of April! Super excited! :)

Good luck! Are you using an incubator or a broody hen? What breed are they? Is this your first time hatching and raising chicks?

Three weeks is never so long as when you're a child waiting for Christmas or when you are hatching chicks

Maybe my incubator temperature was a bit high as its only day 19.
Fluffybutt has 2 chicks so far. We will wait and see if the other 14 eggs hatch.
The eggs spent 2 weeks in the incubator first.

This morning there were 2 bantam chicks in the incubator. I've given them to Fluffybutt so she now has 5 and is still sitting on 13 bantam eggs. I haven't candled the eggs she is on at all.

I'm still hopeful that I'll get one Black Leghorn out of the dozen eggs it would be great if it's a pullet, too.

It is hard to explain but I am sure you have all been in a situation where there is a weather event or something similar threatening a loved one from whom you are separated? They are where they are, going about their day, may be prepping for it etc while you are many, many miles away, no idea what is happening and seeing the reports of imminent danger. They are telling you it is fine and you are thinking OMG! ?? That is me right now! lol

As you all probably know by now Hubby and FIL are in Forrest Beach and guess where a possibly forming cyclone is predicted to the cross the coast at this stage?

So, she [not being sexist but naming convention dictates that if a cyclone does form, this one is going to have a girls name] is still a tropical low, not classified a tropical cyclone [yet?].

Higgins Storm Chaser’s latest update was “Convection exploding around the Tropical Low in the Coral Sea tonight! Things are about to get serious for NQLD in the coming days... Stay tuned!”

The more stoic and less excitable Bureau of Meteorology is saying “A tropical low pressure system is located southeast of the Papua New Guinea mainland. It is forecast to drift southward for the next 24 to 36 hours, before turning more westward towards the tropical Queensland coast late Friday or on Saturday.
Conditions are favourable for this system to develop, and the probability of it forming into a tropical cyclone will steadily increase into the weekend. With a Moderate chance [20-50%] of the system being a tropical cyclone on Saturday but High chance on Sunday [Over 50%].
This system is likely to make landfall on the north tropical Queensland coast early next week.”

Fingers crossed for everyone in FNQ that she fizzles out!

I just saw the update on tv that there was a cyclone watch issued for FNQ. Not surprizing with this weather. I thought it had passed today, but nope. Here's hoping it fades away.

I hope it fizzles Teila!

Sorry I won't be likely to be able to help for up there, though I'll ask around. I'm south east Sa so most of those I know are southern Victoria.

That's ok, I'm getting used to that hahaha. It seems all the breeders are down south. I have found one guy who has good quality khakis near Brisbane but he has many many orders to fill.

Does anyone know how I would go about finding markets in my area, and are they farmer markets? Thanks :)

Have you tried Gumtree?

There's a Facebook page called scenic rim animals for sale. You could ask on the there.

Progress pics of the coop from today .. shade cloth goes under the Suntuf Solarsmart Polycarbonate Roofing which has 99.9% UV Protection, absorbs heat from the sun and is hail resistant and cyclone rated and not being fitted until after TC Debbie has departed lol
