Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

feathered feet beautiful markings 8mths old BUT not laying (cant be a roo surley) What do you think??
Is that shadow or black at the back? When we picked our favorelles you couldn't mistake the boys, even the kids could tell them at a glance, they were theses cute little grey things. That was at 10 weeks. So looks girl to me I did ask on the fav thread and 7 months was when the couple that replied said theirs started laying so it wouldn't be far off

Look what im trying to get ! Lady wants to swap her for an ISA
Oh, how lucky. I would do that swap any day and that is 100% pullet!
All your babies are SO CUTE!!! I don't breed anything at our house, but they are simply adorable!

Where are these Quail photos Luke?!
Hm.. well I might get them up tomorrow!
My sister couldn't wait to get them in their new coop after I told her it was a bad Idea, but hey they arn't mine, so as long as she doesn't infect my chickens, all is good!

She looks lovely Sam. You may find the woman wants to swap her as isa's lay daily and large eggs. The brahma's for example only lay about 3 eggs or so a week so if she is more like them perhaps she wants something that lays better.

I just wanted to share the update that my little broody bantam girlie has, for the last two mornings, been clammering to free range with the others instead of being glued to the nest, so I think she may be snapping out of it.

She also appears to be free of mites now after lots of DE and a bit of Pestene - I didn't end up using the drips this time so I still have those in reserve.

This broody period has actually been great. All four of my chooks have become much more settled and comfortable with us as a result of daily cuddlefests with the broody, and we now have regular lap visits from the tiny gold Wyandotte, even sometimes from our barred rock who we refer to as a bantam turkey... think we got slipped a full sized bird there, she is by far the largest and still hasn't matured.

And my blue laced Wyandotte has started doing the little squat for me that suggests we will soon be getting eggs from her....can't wait to see them.

Chooks are so habit forming, I would dearly love to get a couple more bantams. It's hard to be patient.

Glad your broody is returning to normal. Would love to see some pictures of your bantam Wyandottes. Where I got my wellies the other day the lady had some and they were so cute. I was tempted to bring them and some rir bantams home as well. But I did behave lol.

I am not a fan of bantams, in the past they wanted to roost in the trees rather than coming to bed which left me chasing them around the garden and climbing trees to get them down - the big girls move slower so are easier to shoo about, and greedier so go to bed for a snack! :)

Do quails have personalities like chickens do? They are so small!

This thread and all the babies must be having a subconscious effect on me as last night I dreamt one of my eggs hatched, a cute black chick came out - impossible to happen here since I have no boys! lol
