Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

How did you go with the 2 eggs that “survived”??

Hey PM, 1 out of the 3 surviving eggs hatched at 11pm Monday on Day 24. It's a beautiful chick but poor little fella might be a lone chick as the other 2 haven't hatched. I've initially left a mirror for him but swap it for one of my gentler 6-week old female chick for company today. She's really gentle with him - didn't peck the little baby and allowed it to take food from the edges of her beak. It's following and copying her so I'm hoping it won't be so lonely. See pics below (sorry about the poor resolution!)

Not putting much hope on the remaining two. I candled them last night and I think I saw slight movement but uncertain. I'll leave it in the oven for another 5 days to be sure.

He/she is beautiful.. and the colour has me completely stumped on who dad is.. lol.. or even who mum is as I have a few girls that lay the blue eggs.. but I’m pretty sure I gave you the really light blue eggs so mum would be esta.. but no idea on dad.. that’s got me stumped lol

@Alkara scratch that just noticed the legs they are Wyandotte legs.. sheena is dad.. which is strange coz I’ve never seen sheena do the squishing with esta.. 🤔🤔🤔

Here’s a picture of sheena…
I’ll get a better one in the morning

Yup the egg is definitely light blue. Maybe he's a very secretive boy! Likes his privacy! It'll probably be a Bantam Wyandotte Easter-egger then! It's a tiny little fella! It's got quite a lot of fuzz just below it's eyes.. there's so much of it that I reckon it blocks it's view! The fuzz grows out and then curls upward. Do your other EE chicks have the same thing? Don't Araucanas have alot of that too?

I separated the female chick from it yesterday afternoon as it wanted to cuddle under her feathers and she had enough of it after some time and pecked it quite constantly. After some brainstorming, I figured he wanted something mimicking mummy's tummy since he's got no buddies to cuddle up to so I found something with lots of fuzz and formed a little tunnel for him to run into. He fell asleep in in almost right away.

Fuzzy's gonna be a lovely chook that's for sure. He/she had a good meal this morning, drank some water and crawled back into the fuzzy tunnel and it's sleeping now. One of the remaining 2 is still pulsating.. so....fingers crossed...
