Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

You've got some funny stories satay!

Some people definitely need to be educated about chickens.

I'm a bit worried to read those Satay. To be honest when I read the "dumbest things people say" threads I have always found comfort by telling myself at least Aussies are not that dumb. Now what do I tell myself!! Lol

Mate there are some strange things you hear when you sell chickens and eggs. I posted in the dumbest thread agers ago about a lady that rang up for an add I had with some give away bantam roosters. She was really excited and said her hubby was going to com right over now and get them. Asked for my address and then said how many eggs would they lay. I said there roosters she said yes but how many eggs will they lay. I said none there roosters .. boys ... they don't lay eggs.. The phone went dead...In her defence she was old but still.... :D

All for money.
oh and I forgot the lady that didn't want a chicken that lays eggs. A lady came to my neighbours to look at some bantams she had for sale We went out to show her and she said is that a girl.. Pat says yes. Does it lay eggs? Pat says not yet but it will.. She says I want a chicken that doesn't lay eggs.. Pat says do you want a rooster? she said no a hen roosters are too noisy.. Pat says they all lay eggs eventually unless you get an older hen that has stopped laying.. She says no I don't want an old one just a hen that does not lay eggs.. By now pat and I are trying to laugh.. She says isn't there a breed that does not lay eggs... We say no..... She says well then don't worry about it and leaves. We still can't work out why she wanted a hen that did not lay eggs...but it was good for a giggle.

Bahahahahah!!! That is ridiculous!

Hi Ben,
We are not sure if we will be setting our own yet. We are definitely picking up a dozen  from a friend as I would like to get some more blood from outside my own flock. Her birds are absolutely stunning. Our breeding stock is from her so I am looking forward to adding a few more to the flock. If we do set some of our own I am going to use my eggs to fill up my R-Com 20. Minimum we will set is 12 and maximum will be 20.
Not sure if my roo is fertile at the moment. He was at the start but now I am not too sure. I think that his fertility will improve when the weather warms up.
In other news I am not sure if you guys remember but I entered one of my blue lorps into an online show. She didn't win as she was up against all large softfeather breeds but she did very well out of the Australorps. Best blue lorp and she got a 'green traffic light' which means that the judge considered her as show quality. Very happy with that result.

Congrats CB. Well done!!!!!!:weee :celebrate
