You should do that at lock down when you up the humidity. You can leave them now or quickly remove them if you want. What day are you on today? Day16 or 18?

ok, I had messed up all my dates ( that's a first satay) and the chicks are due to hatch today...hopefully.
Now, I have read in all the booklets and no where does it say to remove the egg rails for hatching but it just seems a bit of a hazard for the chicks. Do I remove them or not?

haha, yeah.
It's day 17 today.
Thanks everybody. I have this tradition I adopted from my mother in law to plant a when something I cared for dies, that way I can say it's not gone, just became a tree. It makes for a pretty depressing garden. This part year of raising hatching Chicks has seen me planting a few trees. I think little munchkin can be a cherry tree. Kspot, I get the same thing, when I say I'm hatching x number of chicks, their eyes bug out and they wonder where I'm going to put them all.Congrats on your hatch RexSorry to hear about your chick Pinky. How sad. I have two broody Sussex at the moment
I thought about perhaps putting some eggs under them, but my husband isn't keen on the idea haha. Probably because he think I would keep them all.![]()

I've done that before too. When my Indian Ringneck died, I planted a lavender bush over his grave. Well, he must have had some nourishing properties to him because that lavender exploded with growth. Thanks everybody. Once when one of my hens died, my dad said "Oh well, now let's give this custard apple tree a boost". Then he buried my poor little hen underneath. I was furious!I've done that before too.
