Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

We'll I can honestly say " don't " go near the JNL-48 on eBay. I've got 2 of the silly things, and neither of them work properly. A word of caution , unless you sell them from day old to week old, chances are you'll get stuck with some and there's a 50/50 chance they will be roosters. I have 6 lovely roos and 5 x too young to tell. Nobody wants roos. I have a sneaking suspicion that , like me , you are a bit of a softy and wouldn't dream of culling.
I could be wrong, but I'm usually a good judge of character.

OH gosh i feel your pain! Mine had the same thing!.. Everyone on here were great helps especially Fanychooklady.. I can copy and paste the information i was sent that totally worked! Mine had the sneezing and snotty nostrils, none were ever lethargic, gasping for breath or off food other than a spluttery sneeze they seemed totally fine.. HOWEVER it is a lot more serious than we think and thus should not sell any of our chickens as they are highly infectious and could have horrible effects to other people's flocks

As for the legs i have river sand in my coop so it helps keep scales down, i had one bird with sign of mites.. I had her stand in some soapy water (sensitive skin soap) and VERY LIGHTLY i used a tooth brush and scrubbed the legs and around the lifted scales.. I then made a mix of vasseline with sulfur powder and again VERY GENTLY massaged it into her legs and so carefully pushed some into the scale gaps.. I apply more sulfur vasseline every second day and for the other chooks with great legs i dip them in olive oil once a week - does the trick!

Oh well Sydney , look at it this way, you'll have more time to spend with your adorable silkies. Wait until you get that place in the country , then start the chook business .

Hahaha my dream home on an acre of land would do me just fine! Sadly though 27 and a single wage in sydney is not easy to get your dreams! I think i'm headed for a shabby apartment lol

Dare to dream. You are a beautiful girl. There is a nice young farmer out there somewhere waiting for you. That show on tele comes to mind. " farmer wants a wife " .
