Re sent to you Bethany hope it gets to you this time..:highfive:

:weee :weee :celebrate
O H M Y G O D ! I am the HAPPIEST chicken owner out today! My girls are disease free! Eeeeee! I can't believe it! The two separate results (a a gazillion dollars later) and all is clear! Best news ever! Next someone other than my silkie Parsley will lay me an egg! I can incubate eggs! I'm gonna start incubating, hatching and EDUCATING! People in Sydney on chickens before they become chicken parents! And teach them about disease and BAD chicken sellers!

Also guys your thoughts are much appreciated here.. I know someone who has chickens who hasn't got the appropriate housing for them, has high mortality in his flock either from illness or predators and his bird are constantly being attacked by crows, his birds are stressed and always having violent fights. Then he takes baby silkies out and around with him all day in a cardboard box with no water and no food! I bought my chicken off him before i knew any of this (we became friends through me buying silkies off him) who turned out to be seriously ill too! His parents don't like him having so many chickens and when i went there one day he had a rooster in a SHOPPING TROLLEY! no food or water or flooring just the trolley wire and left him in there! For how long I'm not sure but i feel sick! He will buy chickens and leave them boxed up in his car over night or until he can sneak them in without his parents seeing, keep them for a week disturbing his flock causing more fights and stress then gets over them and sells them like 4 days later! Knowing he has sick birds mixed in there too!

I don't know what to do anymore and I almost can't sleep at night thinking about them.. Should i call the RSPCA? He brags about having the council convinced his chickens are fine so that will be useless, ill loose a friend and he'll know it was me but I've tried to tell him a thousand times that its not on but he wont spend money on proper housing for them! He also askes me to try sell his chickens to my friends and wants to buy some of mine when i was sell them, I wont ever buy or sell chooks to him EVER again but i can't sit by do nothing hmmmm..

Grats sydney Chickens. Glad your flock is disease free. I agree with the notion of follow your gut what is the worst they can do nothing but you will know you tried.

Hi guys, sorry I haven't been on for a while I've been sick, I'm finally starting to feel better now...
400

I set three golden pheasant eggs, and typically the power went out for about 5 hours last night/this morning before I got the generator going. All still seem to be working and ok from candling them. I've got a lot to catch up on but I will post some pics tomorrow.

Sorry to hear you have been unwell chook. Glad you are starting to feel a little better.

There are some nasty bugs going round at the moment. I had a kid miss a full week of school last week. Glad you are on the mend chook.

Cute chickies. I see you have hatched the rare blue butt breed there :)

Thanks for the photos satay. I love maran roos.

Call RSPCA I say worst they do is nothing and at least you tried.

My older son has ear infection and bad bronchitis due to the illness and smoke. It's bad here glad the rain cleared the air last night.

Glad to see you back on pinky.

Is it Un-Australian not to like being called a Shiela?

Jellybean I just remembered this when I was reading your post this morning. Many years ago when I still lived in the city a few of the mums at my sons school used to go in and help with the grade ones testing them on the word walls each morning. Well this one morning I get this little boy who is the only boy in the class that has 2 mums. I start asking him his words and out of no where he pipes up .. I have 2 mums you know..... I say yes and return to asking him his words. He then says I used to have a dad but mum said he racked off (now replace racked with a word starting with F) with another sheila. Omg I nearly fell off the chair I was trying to keep a straight face and continue with the words when I can hear snickers from the teachers and the other couple of mums that were helping.) Out of the mouths of children... you just never know what they are gunna say. lol

ok looks like I found the culprit. I went to check the cage this morning and there was a dog in it. I would say a dingo cross thing. Looked like a dingo but not a pure one for sure. Rang council and they said they would send someone around. The guy lives one street from me and he was there in 5 minutes.(this is a different council guy not tony the one I have dealt with before) He only told me it was a wild dog not a domesticated one. He then proceeds to tell me he will get his gun and shoot it there and I can get rid of the body..... Hmmm. I told him don't think so I am not digging a hole in this rock hard ground to try to bury a wild dog. It is illegal here to shoot anything on land under 40 acres not sure if it is the same for council though,. He was non to impressed and told me well if I didn't let my chickens out to free range I would not attract wild dogs. I told him if council did their job and got rid of wild dogs my chickens could free range happily... With much disgust he finally loaded the cage with the dog in it and took it away. He is supposed to be returning the cage tonight., First time I have ever managed to catch anything in that cage. Must tell the neighbour who lent it to me.. He will be impressed.
Grrr if people didn't dump unwanted puppies we wouldn't have the issue :( Twice a year we go out and shoot wild dogs around here, we have a massive problem.
I hate killing their puppies, but know they would have no chance to be domesticated and rehomed :( In one night at the beginning of this year we shot over 12 wild dogs and killed over 30 pups. They don't come anywhere near my house yard as I have my mastweiller and great dane. But they slaughter our sheep.
Hope that is the end of it for you, hope others aren't around to follow his trail to your yard :(
