Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Thanks Satay, I think you're spot on. I googled images of Malay Game Fowl and they all have the same look. I just don't know what mix it is and I hope it's a female.

How old do you think she might be and at what age can you tell the female apart from the male? I would think that a Roo would have a much more developed comb, but then I've never kept Game Fowl to know for sure. Do they mingle well with other chicken breeds and are they very flighty? I would also like to know if they're good layers or tend to brood a lot? If you could fill me in on this I would really appreciate it.

Cheers,

My one is as broody as anything and can be quite feisty when broody.(2 to 3 times a year) She lays really well when not broody though and is a sweet gentle girl all other times. I am sure if you got her and she turned out to be a boy there would be this certain chick from esk that would take her off your hands. My malay game is as old as now. I have had her 6 years and she had been passed through at least 2 people over the years because she is a mean broody lol ( she is not as bad as some of my banties when they are broody those girls could go on the violent offenders list lol)so I am guessing she is way older than 6.
She gets on well with all the other hens(not flighty at all) if anything I would say she is a bit quiterer and tends to just hang with one of the roosters most of the time.,
Will try to get a picture of her later for you.

Ugh. Opened the front door this morning and there's a staffy sitting on our front verandah.

Not sure if it belongs to anyone in the street but haven't seen it before. Have locked the chooks in the run so they are a bit more out of sight if it comes nosing round the very jump able 4 foot side gate.

Think I'm going to ring the rangers if its still hanging round when I need to leave for work.
That happened to me on our acreage, only me at home, chooks roaming around and two staffys a male and a female came running towrds me up my drive. The female jumped at me and I thought I was going to be a gonner but she licked me to death instead. Then they left... a week later they came back again but with two old people who began to give me a lecture on leaving my gate open and letting my dogs roam free. I had to tell them they weren't mine. The female had not long given birth (teats enlarged and still some milk there) I think but am not sure that this couple decided to keep the dogs, no-one had reported missing animals and they had just 'lost' their own beloved dog. I am glad, the ranger would have put them to sleep I'm thinking. They asked all the neighbours but no-onbe knew anyhting.

I think looking at those pictures she would only be 3 to 4 months. Not sure what age is best for sexing them as mine was full grown when I got her. Unless she is a bantam game mix then she would definitely be a girl. Do they say on the site bantam or large fowl. Looking at the pictures again she looks about the same size as my oeg bantam Who is tiny. Maybe it's a bantam. Pm me the link to the site if you like and ill take a look at the ad.

Yes that unfortunately was the name hubby gave her as he said she was ugly as a chick. Never let men name animals. She had a twin sister that hubby called mug as in (mug shot).. Poor mug got taken by a dog when she was about 12 months old. Some of the suppossed hens became roosters so we had stirfry, satay, kfc and red rooster. Stirfry and satay we kept. satay got taken by the same dog that got mug. Stirfy and fug had lots of babies over the years but now I only have left one rooster (fugfry) and fug.. Hence again to all the people out there never let men name your chickens.
