Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Hi guys, hope you all had an awesome Christmas and that the New Year will bring you all lots of Chook related joy. Just thought I'd pop in and see what's been going on in my absence.

Love the dog pics. We really want to get a puppy but we're out of the house for 12 hours a day so it doesn't seem fair.

Satay - Congrats on the birth of your nephew.

Luke - Sorry to hear about your lose. It's so sad to loose a feathered friend.

So, a quick update on Mabel the crowing hen... She's now taught Dot (our other Pekin Bantam) how to crow too!

This morning they were having a verbal battle at 5am and the only way I could get them to stop was by putting them both in an old cardboard box and hiding them in the linen cupboard! :s

Needless to say (feeling a tad guilty about putting them in the box) I spent the day upgrading the cardboard box to something a little more luxurious.

With out further ado I present to you.... The Naughty Chook Box!

400

Design features include a lockable lid (stops the girls escaping and messing up the clean sheets in the cupboard) the finest Sugar Cane Mulch, a gourmet serving of feed and water plus (of course) a generous smattering of air holes for both breathing and air circulation (although if they keep waking us up at 5am those air holes may become an optional extra) :p

Lol I love the box. Sorry to hear Mabel has shared her love of crowing. I have never had a hen that crowed that i know of so you seem really unlucky to get two. Shows they have a strong spirit though.

Hi Satay i think SeptemberQuail may join us soon and would like to know some stuff about Quails as he has some, i told him you'd be the person to see so you can talk quail to each other lol.

I have seen posts by him in the quail section. I have been lucky to learn alot about quails from another aussie on the site Sydneyquailman. Sam knows lots about quails and is so willing to share and offer advice to newbies.

Oh LOL i love it. How big is it and wont they just spill the food ans water all over the place. But apart form that good idea.

Morning all. merry Xmas, congratulations, commiserations, and welcomes.
I had to post something before this thread slips right of the page. lol

My 21 Aruacana X White Bantam Leghorns are now all off heat
and into the third stage run.

The idea is that the Leghorns lay pure WHITE eggs,
so crossing with Aruacana, the next generation should lay pure BLUE eggs.
(The green eggs are caused by crossing Aruacana with various shades of brown egg layers)
