Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Oh, I didn't think they could really, but was curious to know. I'll have to look it up, how big Bantam eggs are.lol. I've never had any other breed besides Red stars. Actually I don't even know if they are Red Stars. They could be Isa Browns or Red Sexlinks. Or they could be Highland browns or Highline Browns. Yeah. you get it. I don't even know what breed of chicken I have lol. I'm pretty sure they are Red Stars though.

I think all the breeds you just named are exactly the same.lol.
Highline, highands etc are the German equivalent.
Red Sex links are ISA Browns. Isa brown is the group name of. RED, Black, White and Amber Sex links. There are more colors but i forget them all. They are just the commercially used chicken that can be sexed at day old.
Red star i think is just ANOTHER name for this group of breed, as i have heard people say they have Amber stars and Black Stars.

But pit some pica up and We can help out, hay you might even have some completely other breed.lol.

A thread you probably have already found.

hi cluckcluckluke,

yes i have been on that thread,

with the second one quailsaustralia, been on that too, i asked on there, i asked the person to send me a photo of a normal jap quail and jumbo jap quails so i can see the difference in size , before i buy some eggs. my quails lay 12-13 gram eggs on average. i have had a couple 16 gram eggs, but they were double yoks, people with jumbos say they lay 14-16gram eggs, thats ok , but i would like to see a grown jumbo before i buy the eggs. thats what im trying to do. thanks for your help and imput on this subject, cheers sam

Here is a comparison on size. Bearing in mind I only have jap quails. Button quails lay smaller eggs again. I think if you went into the more exotic quails you may find some that are bigger.

From Left. Muscovey duck egg, Australorp egg, Bantam cochin(pekin) egg and jap quail egg. Jap quail eggs average 5 quail eggs to make up 1 chook egg. Bantams are about 2 bantams to the average chook egg. Muscovey duck eggs are about 1/2 half time the size of a chook egg.

Wow awesome photo, satay!

Well- it sounds like I will be getting some ducks again.
I miss my last couple of ducks that were taken by a fox about 6 months ago.
And I notice the garden is full of slugs and snails and bugs since they have been gone!
A friend of a friend wants to get rid of their flock of Pekins, and I said I would take a few.
(I must be mad- too much poultry here already!)

Good luck.

Does anyone have any Free egg cartons that they have excess of or wont use, that are not the usual dozen card board ones. Like plastic see through ones, round cartons, cartons that hold like 20 eggs, just any cartons that are not the usual ones.
I will pay for postage depending on how much it is.
