Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

...What happened just now?...

Today I went to the Goulburn Poultry Auction.

...So many pretty birds...

Enough said.

So now I have (to add to my collection);
- 2 Plymouth Rock Cockerels
- 1 Plymouth Rock Pullet (I'll be getting more at the first opportunity, my mum just loves the breed)
- 3 Bantam Plymouth Pullets
- 1 Muscovy lady Duck (she's docile and easy-going)
- 2 Silver Appleyard (young enough to be unsexed)
- 2 white Turkeys a couple of months old
- 7 white, light and buff Japanese Quail (to add some colour to the quail I'll get from the Quailman)

And for some reason, 7 Pigeons...

Okay, here is my defence;
1. The pigeons were about to be bought by a man who only bought cheep roosters and other poultry (but only when they were cheap). I think we all know where they were going to end up. Now I need to get rid of them... Does anyone here want one? They only cost me a dollar each (like my lovely new Plymouth Roos) so I'm happy to give them away. BTW I have no idea how to sex them. They look like this one below, minus the cool feathers turned the wrong way.

also like this; http://cdn.backyardchickens.com/2/25/252cbd29_NurembergLarkPigeon1.jpeg but they are mostly white with one almost all white. They actually look like a cross between a pigeon and a dove... I have them in quarantine at the moment, they've been de-liced and de-mited (no symptoms, just a precautionary measure) And they'll be wormed day after tomorrow (not today so I don't overload them). I'm doing that with all my new birds.

On another note, I got the Turkeys with the intention of eating them eventually. Only, one got out on the way home, and instead of making a fuss, it just hopped onto my arm and stayed there... They are so lovely. I've named them Pinky and The Brain (The Brain being the fella who knows how to open crates). I've already started a new coop for my new pets, an it should be ready by the time they come out of quarantine. My new Quail are also far more friendly than I thought they would be, they eat right out of my hand (they're laying so I don't think they are young).

Does anyone else have chicken impulse buying issues? And does anyone need a pigeondove?

Well you got a good haul there colourful. I went to look at one mucovey duck once and came home with 10. Another time went to pick up one muscovey girl and came home with a drake another hen and 30 brahma hatching eggs lol.
