Colorful, thanks so much for the pictures, they are wonderful. I especially like the Ducks, quails and pigeons, I have no problems with your quarantine but how come they are all together?
Looking at those photo's I would actually have your pigeons but i don't think we could get them all the way up to me form you.
Also how come you got them all so cheap? Like $1 for a chicken and $3 per quail.

Satay i have never seen your turkey's, they look great. I see some turkeys on BYC and they are not to good looking but yours are great and those big ol males all fluffed up.lol.

I have them together because the only other option for me is to put them into small runs about 2ft by 4ft by 2ft. This way they have some space, and I always can put them into the smaller runs should they not get along. And I wish you were closer too.

And I got them cheap because I was at the Auction really early and I stayed until it was done, which took about 6 hours, so I got the bargains where I could. That said, most roosters went for $1 to $10 or so. Goulburn Auction is apparently cheap. Until they get home, then I have to de-worm, de-mite and make sure they don't start sneezing.

Think I Have had them all Ash even geese. They were given to me as adults and the male hated me. I could not go outside or he would attack and leave me with big bruises to the back of my legs. They are now happily living at the neighbours 2 doors up but they will try to go me if I go in her pen.. Mean buggers.

Oh, well they should start laying in about 2 weeks. But at a month i would defiantly expect them to be.
I was hoping they would be the same age as my Marans ( 14 weeks ). Could have a comp to see what breed lays first.lol.

I am not sure what age they should start Luke but I have sent a message off to the lady I bought the eggs from to see what average age she thinks. You got to post a picture of your maran eggs when they start to lay Luke. I have looked everywhere for some decent marans but have yet to find any.

Karen says any where from 24 weeks on. So I may have a little more wait yet but that is ok.

What are Turkeys like as 'pets'? Are they friendly or really noisy? I would like some but my husband wouldn't! We are still disagreeing about geese! I really want one (heard you have to have two) and then was told they aren't that attached to chickens so I may have to wait until we move somewhere bigger - we have recently had a fox issue so the girls are in the garden instead of free range everywhere...
I love seeing everyones feathered families!

They are pretty friendly. Mine will come running for treats if they see me anywhere on the acreage. The boys will gobble which can be a bit noisy depends on how much land you have I guess.
When we first moved here 6 years ago I bought one turkey about 2 weeks old from a guy at the markets. My son who was young at the time called her "cheap" She used to cheep all the time but it was cause she only cost $5 lol. She used to follow me around every where and help in the gardens etc. One day my neighbour up the road came down with a full grown big g said she had 2 gobblers walk in her yard and no one had claimed them and she only wanted one. Hence the breeding of turkeys begun.I bough a few other females as well. Poor cheap got killed by the neighbours dog last year she was 5 1/2.
