Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

OooooH! I adore Coffs! My sister moved up there a couple of years ago and I want to follow! My husband can't get his work up there though and he earns more than me...Such a lovely place...

I was just reading that thread about mites and I wanted to ask what you all use for prevention please - my vet gave me Fidos Free-itch concentrate rinse which I spray on the girls (like cowboys and indians as they aren't fans) and in their housees which usually get a soaking as I am a bit heavy handed. Prior to this I used that Coopers powder from my feed place.

Is this enough? I haven't had any issues so far but we do have lots of wild birds - loads of sparrows, fairy wrens, ducks and bush turkeys who all think the back garden is an oasis for food and water...that thread sounded dreadful!

Thank you!

My vet gave me that too after But to spray all the timber in their coop and the nesting box.

For the actual chickens she gave me a little bottle of something else which the name eludes me and we just had to put a dose on the back of the neck like you do for dogs.

Our mite infestation seems to be cured

The guy from the council just came and took the camera away. I am not holding my breath that I would have captured the dog though as I have not seen it at all since the camera was installed. I usually see it running around the yard but I think she may have an idea something was going on and it has been locked up. Usually happens for a week or so after she has a visit from the council. Appps how are you going with your rooster noise problem? Luke how are you babies going?

I'm wondering about prevention too, and if there's a way to keep those lil sparrow things out of the yard. Scarecrow? I have a ridiculous amount of them at my place these days. They're stealing my chookens' food. There are so many, when they land on the car port, it sounds like it's raining..

I love Coffs Harbour! Went there camping one Christmas long time ago before kid, chickens, quails, cats and veggie garden.

I wish I had a large block of land, it is only 500m2, still better than some new estates though.

Ash, I like your blue layers, especially the grey (blue, lavender) one at the back.

Oh ok well it looks like it would be a lot bigger in the pictures. We used to live on the south side of brissy before here and I thought it was a huge block at 700sqm but now having 6 acres I could not imagine my little house block from before.

Yeah It is very Beautiful up here and always Green and lush. Although as you say, jobs are not the best and its isn't as central for the chicken world.lol.
Like you can't get half the stuff you could get from a feed store here than like Brisbane.
Also not as many chicken breeds available and I don't even think there is and Avian Vet down here.
My Local Post Office has never even had fertile eggs!

But I think it's great........so far!
