Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

They will eat a little bit of it. The school next door has some growing in their chook house, but you need to put a guard around it or they will trash it.
If you buy one plant, use it for cutting - you will soon have lots of new plants.

I can't believe I forgot this.  MINT, Rats and Mice hate mint, Grow it all around you your coop, run etc. I have a little patch of it slowly growing under my elevated roost. The more you have growing the better.

Also Wormwood is great for lice. But just growing it will not do any thing you actually have to cut up the branches and crush them up and put them in you nest boxes or strewn across the floor. The herbal effect from this plant is a repellant not an actual cure for lice though.

Hope this helps.

I Will share a WORMING tip with you in a bit, It seems really easy to do.

Awesome! I have a huge worm wood bush :-D happy to send cuttings he anybody wants :)
And that mint tip is great :) will get onto that right away :)

Thanks :)

Only trouble is I don't like mint either lol. Oh well guess I don't have to eat it :)

I've got some wormwood on order from the nursery. I couldn't get the real one at bunnings it was labeled wormwood but when you read the fine print it was "like" wormwood.
Supposed to also get rid of intestinal worms if they eat it v

The one I have is artemesia absinthium. Is that 'real' wormwood?
Luke and ash, is that the one that's good for chooks? The community garden in my town has another variety but much smaller plant so couldn't get too many cuttings.
Can give y'all heaps of mine though. I get so much when I cut it back.

Should be fine to post....wrap in wet paper towel, then newspaper, then a zip lock bag and pop it in an express post bag.

So today I thought I'd better do some proper maintenance, before my coop completely collapses. Where it's completely come apart, I tried to remove the screws and re drill holes, only to discover that the reason it's giving way is that the screws have snapped in half, so impossible to remove or re-use.
I'm so angry about this! The **** thing cost a few hundred dollars, and has lasted less than three months!
I went to the Easter Show yesterday and saw a fantastic coop made of recycled plastics in the UK....has anyone come across these before?

The door on my coop no longer closes because it's swollen due to damp. I'm using a tupperware container to prop the door shut at night, and I want something nicer!

Did you buy one of those stained timber ones?

I don't even know if it was stained. Made of fir wood, I believe. I'm about to write a snippy email to the people I bought it from. Not good enough! One of the reasons I chose it was because it was one of the few that had an indoor roost for the girls at night. My girls don't use it at all, but perch on the edge of the nesting box. I have to duck out and turn them around at night so their tails aren't over the nests, or the boxes get all poopy.
I've just sent a message to the manufacturers of the plastic one in the UK to see if I can get one shipped. MUCH cheaper there. I'm so sick of having to pay twice as much for anything just because we live in Australia!

I'm just looking at the measurements and wondering if you would really fit 3-6 chooks in there? 47x87cm including nest box. Was thinking a ruler is 30cm so that's not huge?
