Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

There is a really good registered breeder in Cattai Ridge Road at Glenorie - I have a couple from there, they are really nice people and really nice Silkies, you may have to search to find them on the net (I can't find their number) but they are listed as registered breeders. They do show but aren't 'showies' and they have other birds there - its excellent as you can see the babies hatching as well!
My soda is from there and she has enough personality to be a little dog, she is brilliant! I also have gotten them from our local nursery but they just aren't as bright or smart...
Let me know if you need me to trawl the sites for their details...

ps they do advertise on Gumtree sometimes...

Hi Everyone, I'm in Ohio now but relocating back to Sydney in July. Will have to leave my small flock of Silkies with my dad. I'm really going to miss them. Hope it won't be too long before I get my Aussie Silkies. What predators will I have to look out for? Any recommendations for breeders of Show Quality Silkies?

WELCOME!! Welcome!

That is a bit of a change.
Silkies are in abundance here, so won't be hard to get them especially in Sydney as they are a favorite for city folk . If you live in the city you shouldn't have many if any predators. There are no racoons in the city like some American cities.

If you are out in the country you may have to deal with a range or predator birds. Also a thing called a Goanna, It is a lizard which can get quite large. It will eat most of your eggs and take a chick if it is close. They eat EVERYTHING!! hair bone, claws anything. They swallow eggs whole and can clear out a whole nest full of eggs in minutes.

Hope this helped.

Welcome. I'd still watch out for foxes apparently they are moving into the suburbs all those bins. We lost our first flock to a fox and we are 5 mins from our city centre.
