Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

My sussex was captured and cleaned up last night, the whole process made less traumatic by generous access to a bowl of hommus throughout treatment.

Soaked off the big clots of blood and no further bleeding occurred, then washed with iodine and applied a mild tea tree based ointment. She was feisty and happy this morning and I checked on her tonight and there has been no further damage done.

The chooks are definitely taking the piss out of me at the moment.

My normal egg collection is one tiny pearly white egg around 35gm (Sybil) one medium pale brown chalky egg with white speckles around 45gm (Asura). Yesterday two freaking HUGE white waxy eggs 60gms each. Today two identical medium brown eggs with white speckles.

They are gaslighting me.

Cluckcluck luck: She doesn't bring anything up .... But it was just that once and she has never done it before...to better describe it she looked like a roo trying to crow, if that helps

Some times chickens actually just yawn.lol.
But if it was a whole neck stretch then maybe Ash is right.
If it is a normal yawn it could just really be an open and close mouth.lol.

Good Luck!

I've got a video of my ISA Brown doing something similar. I didn't capture the video myself. I'll post it and tell me if its the same as what your hen is doing. You only need to watch the first 30 seconds of it. She only does it twice.

Omg bloody yawning!!!...Little buggar purposely came to the door and did it...so I would worry.... Ok I overreacted , lesson learnt... Lol

Ok it's not my week again. Got up just a bit ago and realised the power has been off for 6 hours over night. Raced out to the brooder to have a look as temps over night were close to zero. Out of the 4 wellies that hatched yesterday. One has died and two are not looking good at all. 1 is looking fine so far. Darn it. I hope the other 2 are able to hang on . Nothing else is happening in the incubator. I am not holding out much hope for them now with the power out that long.. Poor wellie babies.
