Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Cute. Did they come from a local breeder? 5 of mine came from eggs from Karen on the north side of brIssy and the other 4 came from someone out this way. Eggs coming next week from N.Q.

Lol satay. If its an animal your addicted if it has feathers whoa. It's more than that lol :)

How many are in the Bator ?

None at the moment Sam. My eggs are being sent Monday. Wellies I love the colour and the nature of them. Of course the egg colour is a bonus as well even though they aren't as dark as I hoped.
Lol Yeah I do love my animals though poultry is my favourites.

People come here and ask why I don't have pigs, sheep or horses. Hubby would want to eat them... Not horses but the others and I would get too attached.

Let's see...

2 dogs, 1 cat, 2 snakes, 20 ish quails.6 budgies, 1 diamond dove, 8 ring neck parrots.. and the poultry... Not much really lol.
Is it hard to guess I am an x vegetarian lol.

Yeah, they are great!
Aussie Marans are really small, so don't expect them to grow as big as your wellies, Marans are supposed to and where originally dual purpose but now they are so small.
I would love a Marans or two.

Pity they're so pricey here - my American friends can't believe how expensive they are here, considering over there they are common and relatively inexpensive.
haha, yeah the people I tell are amazed at the prices.

very nice!
What is that big plump silkie looking thing?

We have had quite a lot of frost lately. My water pipes are up out of the ground at the moment, making way for a new shed site I am digging up and they have frozen 4 times in the last week... I have the sinks, a pot of water and the kettle filled every night just in case. This is one of the little duck ponds I sometimes use for the call ducks at 3 pm the day after one of those frosty nights....

Well I came up with a solution for my flooded coop. I had some bread crates I'd been using to stack seedlings on so turned them upside down over the water and then put some hay on top so its easier for them to walk on.

The second coop is a total write off at the moment so they are all cramped into one much to their disgust but after a few arguments they finally all settled for the night. But at least they are all up and dry.

We've had 210mm so far since Monday morning but only about 10mm forecast for tomorrow so hopefully we are almost through it. The run is mostly lake at the moment but if the rain eases it and the coop should start to drain.

Oh and we were officially the wettest spot in Australia last night :)
Ill take your cold over this rain any day!!

Wow that is a lot of water....What a great idea with the bread crates! I kinda did that with the ducks because they kept spreading water every where when they were wee little things in the brooder except with upside down seedling trays and news paper on top... I do not envy your rain at all....Your poor little chookies! I hope the worst of it has passed
