Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Well it is the middle of Winter and hens don't lay well in Winter ( number of hrs of daylight etc ) so you might just have to wait till next Spring.
Although in saying that my Ancona's started laying their first eggs just a couple of weeks ago.
Yeah I have heard that.....and I'm going:oops: !
LOl Just pack your winter woollies and you'll be right. Could always make the trip a couple of hours north to visti us up this way :)

Thanks Sam. Pretty sure it was Thor. I came around the corner to check on them and saw the cage broken on the ground and Thor ran for cover .. He would never hurt the birds but I guess he wanted to check them out. He carry's around quails in his mouth if they get out while I am feeding them. He never hurts one just brings it back to me. On the cat front my cat is scared to death of anything with wings lol. When I had my Quaker parrot he used to chase the cat all over the house Put him near a chicken he is out of there. I do plan on getting another girl for the lonely guy in the aviary. Hard to find girls out here so far only seen boys for sale but will keep looking. The last girl in the aviary is sitting on one egg but whether she hatches anything is yet to be seen.

Appps I hope you girl is better soon.

Well in that case Luke I might discount the sneezing. None have appeared sick in any other way. They just sneeze sometimes. Funny thing is its only ever the faverolles.

Will see how she goes off the layer feed. Will have to go get some grower though as I mixed what was left.

Yeah, it's the same with my flock.
Only 1 WLH sneezes and the Marans and my rooster, apart from them no one else. Unless they are drinking, they all sneeze when drinking.

Apps with my recent tick experience Afro was really slow and when she first got sick, she isn't as 'in your face' as the other two or as active anyway but she had slowed down so much that i could pick her up and put her back in their run...

She is back with all the other girls today and perfectly normal so I am most pleased, however, whilst inspecting that all was as it should be I was looking at Walter as she was eating something and her bottom is a bit pink and seems to be missing some feathers - she is normal in behaviour in all ways and seems to be laying as they all are... my feed guy says that if you feed your girls lots of greens then they will still lay, I don't know if that is true or not.

Luke, I made them porridge last week in the rain. Much to my disappointment they weren't fans! It took ages for them to eat it and the ring leader was Soda the bossy Silkie....they prefer yoghurt it seems, as long as its not cold!

Ungrateful!

Mine love porridge too. They also go nuts over warm weet-bix with yoghurt mixed it. Spoilt bloody things they are.

Whereabouts in Qld are you going? If you still want Yoko, there's a woman in mackay qld that has three two month olds for fifty each. Two boys and one girl though.
