Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Thats disgusting. I hate buying chicken now, makes me feel guilty...It ought to be illegal not to have them free range - or any animal for that matter.

I have a friend who lives on the Central Coast who would like some ducks - can anyone recommend which type? He is in suburbia but on a big block. He doesn't like Muscovys' which I think is a shame as I used to have some and they were lovely pets...

Also (can you tell I haven't been on here for a little while!) Soda crows even though she is a girl and now seems to crow when things happen on the property that are out of the norm - how cute is THAT?! She is the best, such a good 'helper'...
It is horrible what these poor birds go through... But to be honest even though I know my roos have had a happy life I still hate the time when it comes to 'reducing' my roosters. It is a life no matter what it has gone through.

I have call ducks and they are quite quiet for ducks. The girls are noisier than the boys....

I've heard of the alpha female doing that when there is no rooster present! That's really cool!

BIG fox this morning around 7.30 caught him/her in the act breaking through the wire so I have been busy repairing.... I know where I will be moving the cage/trap to!

You never can keep 100% of people happy Mate... I just have a label that says Cassi's Hen's Eggs! Laid Daily from 01/01/13 to 04/01/13  (example dates)

And if i get complaints they dont get my eggs again LOL

I would love to tell her to shove it you know where but hubby has to work for them lol.

Hey Satay

How goes the Snakes ?

How goes the Babies ?

I hope your bad luck streak has Finished !:fl

HI Sam,
All is good so I am hoping my bad luck streak is over too. The wellie babies are going really well. They are 3 weeks old today. Heidi my one and only female budgie left is sitting on 3 eggs that I can see of. Will be exciting to see if she hatches anything. May have some one that is able to sell me a female budgie so finger crossed aussie will have a mate again soon. I am rescuing 2 chickens on Thursday night... well technically hubby is doing the rescuing but still. My mum works in a fish and chip shop in Brissy and one of her customers came in and they were talking about chickens ... The customer is a real estate agent. He said a tenant had moved out and left 2 chickens there that were in poor condition and could I take them cause he didn't want to chop their heads off.. Sounds like they may just be moulting bad but wont know til I see them... Not even sure what breed they are so hubby is kindly collecting them for me (even after a few eye rolls) Thursday night on his way home. Will post pictures when they get here. Lucky I don't live where the rescue hens are that were posted would have to send hubby with a trailer to gather heaps if I did. Forgot to add the snakes are great quiet at this time of year they don't hibernate as we have heat lamps on them but the slow down and sleep more.

I tried to take some photos of my Silver Duckwing Welsummers but the lens kept fogging up so this is the best I could do for now. Just mind they are still going through a moult and also there is still some diatomaceous earth on their backs. Tony Hawk the rooster still has too much gold in him. The girl is Monica

Zombie chicken!

satay that's very nice of you to rescue them It does my head in how people treat animals like something disposable like that.

I agree appps. I don't know how people can do it. I have taken In a few chickens over the years that have been abandoned. Love the wellies chook. Do they lay dark eggs? Love the roosters name. That's a name hubby or son would give something around here lol. Hubby named our first two budgies Pearly (pearl jam) and Eddie( Eddie Veder the lead singer..) we also many years ago had a pair of mask peach faces hubby named beaves and butt head.. I don't let he name things much lol.

Hee hee, tell your hubby I think his names are cool...My favourite band is Ween and I named all my girls after the girls that ween have sung about... I ran out of names before the first season was over...
Yes this generation lays a dark egg, I used the Marans to darken the egg, hence the term 'work still in progress' to fix up a few things. Lovely natured birds too.
