Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I never knew that about horses and barbed wire until i moved out here.

A horse down the road was frightened by the rescue chopper flying over late at night ( looking for a lost bush walker ). He went straight threw the Barb, he was in such a state that he had to be destroyed where he laid , tangled in the wire in the middle of the road. I hate the stuff with a passion.

I understand that ben for sure.
Sorry guys I didn't mean any offense to anyone that wants to try them and I hope they work for those that do. I love my roos (more than my hens some times lol) and their noise and could not imagine not hearing them crow... Luckily being on acreage I don't have that issue.

No offence taken at all. Everyone is entitled to their input, that's why I asked in a public place. If I could have them crow I certainly would.

Thank you very much I really appreciate it, I will go have a sticky and see what I have. Do you know what age they start to become more easily to sex? Other than waiting for it to crow

Waiting for a crow from an Araucana, can be tricky - because the girls can crow too !! My little Araucana crows before she lays ... a much softer crow than a rooster, but a crow none-the-less .... just thought I should warn you about that. Apparently ( someone told me ) it is a common enough trait in this breed - for hens to crow. She certainly IS a hen - lays some lovely eggs when she's in the mood and not after broodiness or in a moult. !! Good luck in sexing your chickens though. Cheers ...... AB

I agree actually its foul stuff - mind the pun- when u see the damage it's hard not to

My BLG hen is broody again, she is only sitting on 3 eggs as she is the only one laying. I would have joined your thread Luke but I won't be here for most of her sitting,my hubby will have to chicken sit for me. Noticed her broody yesterday, hatch day should be 24th Feb...
